With Halloween just around the corner the discussion of ghouls and goblins is upon us. A mere two weeks away, the celebration and everything that comes along with Halloween is rearing its ugly head. Decorations are going up and pumpkins are for sale. Scary movies are being played and kids are buying costumes. Scary movies are something that I just never did, it became a joke as I got older as I realized the stupidity of them but that doesnt mean I was never scarred.
It was a cold october night and the year was 1999, I was but a boy pushing almost 8 years of age. My older brothers were up watching tv when I stumbled upon them in the family room, little did I know I had just stumbled into years of torment. I sat down at what was the beginning of a movie, a scary movie at that. As I watched and the horror insued I was frozen to the couch, to scared to let my now crossed feet hit the ground. It was the newest of the "Chucky" movies, a set of horror films where a possessed doll chases down a boy trying to kill him, taking down everyone who git in his path. The boy's name happened to be Tyler.
The movie ended but the damage had been done. I didnt sleep for weeks after that and I had nightmares for months to come. Just when I thought I had seen the last of that little red headed demon it happened, a new "Chucky" came out and this time he brought his crazy ass wife. I never watched the movie all the way through but I never had to. Just knowing that he wasnt dead was enough for it all to come back. Again I suffered, fought, and was tormented by this horrible devil.
Now that I look back on my years of torture I do not see them as foolish at all. Still today I dont like the name Charles, Chuck, Chucky, or any other variation. Dolls with red hair tremendously creep me out, normal dolls just creep me out. My biggest fear though is undoubtedly coming my way, some sick sick person will want to remake "Chucky" one day soon as is a common theme with many movies from the past, and when it comes out i will be forced to see it. This is most upsetting to me because I know how much better done this version will be, unquestionably scaring the shit out of me once again, even more embarrassing due to the fact that I am now a grown ass man.
So thank you Chucky for the years of torment, I look forward to our future encounter,

Are we All Replicants?
When it comes down to Deckard in "BLade Runner" many people are skeptical as to whether or not he is human, or in fact a replicant.
From the beginning of the movie Deckard is portrayed as an old school, bad ass, rugged, retired police man. He is reinstated because a new wave of replicants are back in town and it his his job to eliminate them, all five of them. He is the best of the best at what he does and what he does is identify and eliminate replicants, or clones that were made to help out the human race. He has virtually no issues with his job, which is killing replicants. If he were one you would think that he would feel a level of remorse when taking their lives, which he doesn't, but then there is the argument that if he was one he wouldn't know.
One reason I feel that Deckard is in fact a replicant is because in the original movie there was an alternate ending where it comes out that he is a replicant, no people left wondering. Even if I had not learned this I still felt that he may have been a replicant because of some of the internal meanings within the movie. The unicorn had much symbolism and showed up multiple times throughout the movie. There is a flash back where he is dreaming and sees a unicorn, his fellow policemen is always leaving oragamy figurines where he goes and his final one is a unicorn. The main time that it showed up though that had a big impact with a small scene was when the unicorn appears in Sebastian's house, he is a biological designer for the replicants and has a large role in their existence within society. The ending fight scene takes place in Sebastian's house and is where the final, most problematic replicant is killed, which we find out earlier was where part of him had come from.

Ode To Google
Dear Google,
Yesterday, September 28th, was your birthday. I hope you celebrated and had the most joyous of days, because if not for you where would be be today? How would our technological world have changed had your limitless vat of knowledge never been tapped? Where would our youth go for their projects and their porn? You, Google, changed the game. Your oh so lovable and marketable name, your ease and fluidity, your simplicity and your availability. You offer something that many people fiend for, answers. Type anything into your search box and press enter, without a doubt whatever was typed Google will have yielded pages and pages for your viewing pleasure. You have become a household name and took the world by storm. The ease that you offer also brings much risk though, no limits to what can be searched has changed many a young boy's life. Ever need info for a school project, Google that stuff. Need a recipe, Google it. Directions? Google it up. So a very happy birthday to you, Google, I say thank you for all that you have done and all that you offer. You truly mean a lot to a lot of people.
